Photography
Places, people and the things they do – lifestyle, work, action, events – are our specialties at imediaSmith. Known particularly for his work with natural light and nature, Greg Smith is actually an “available light” photographer, practiced with and ready to use, most any lighting available – whether in a studio or in the wilderness, day or night, in a small office or in a large hall – to produce honest, engaging, slice-of-life pictures. Greg also maintains a Lightroom database of some 50,000 image files, allowing you to license existing (or stock photography) from the Lowcountry of South Carolina to Colorado’s High Country. Writing
Janet and Greg Smith both have roots as award-winning journalists. They have written on topics ranging from lifestyles and news events to technology, science, nature, politics, business and tourism. Both can a take a folksy approach to a story or a tagline. But don’t let that fool you. They’re dedicated to accuracy, precise grammar and style. Each brings nearly four decades of experience to researching, reporting and crafting creative prose that informs and entertains.
Editing
Both Janet and Greg were newspaper editors, working for large chains and helping to launch several local, independent publications. They bring experienced, fast eyes to trim, clean and/or punch up copy to ensure it reads well, whether in a quick pass or carefully aloud. Sticklers for consistent style and precise grammar, they understand when to bend and break rules for effect – and when rules must be followed.
Graphic & Web Design
From small printing jobs to coffee-table books and complex websites, we understand how to turn ideas into presentations. Our in-house style reflects our newspaper roots. It tends to be structured, emphasizing strong imagery, punchy headlines and clean copy blocks. But we appreciate lyrical approaches and know when to work with others to add curves to our straightforward style and push the most complex project through a smooth production schedule. At imediaSmith, we enjoy design projects that grow as a collaboration, much as we enjoy working with a team on …
Video Production
We were there when media converged, learning early to apply our print and still photography storytelling skills to gathering and editing digital video and audio. We have in-house experience, equipment and software for professional presentations. We also know how to scale up and work with others to make your complex project an effective reality.
What does all this cost?
At the latter stages of our careers, we are focused more on effective communication than our bottom line. But we still must make a bit of a profit to stay in business. We remain dedicated to the licensing model for pricing creative work, and we aren’t about to radically undercut our challenged markets. Count on imediaSmith for a fair deal to execute your project and share it with the world.
